Our Purpose

Arising from the legacy of the former St Andrew's Hospital in East Melbourne, the St Andrew's Foundation makes grants and donations to hospitals, aged care facilities and community services. Priority is given to services provided by the Presbyterian and Uniting Churches and their ecumenical partners. The Foundation is operated by representatives of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria and the Uniting Church in Australia Synod of Victoria and Tasmania.

You can learn more at the following links:

Through our grants we seek to further the trio of Christian virtues - Faith, Hope and Love. We invite you to reflect on this detail of a memorial window in the Chapel of the former St Andrew’s Hospital building in East Melbourne.

Donations and Bequests

Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible, and the additional income from your donation will enable us to increase our annual grants. Bequests can also be made in your Will to the 'St Andrew's Foundation'.

Looking for records of the
St Andrew's Hospital in
East Melbourne?

The Foundation does not have access to patient records. This is not something we can assist with. You can read more about the history of the Hospital and this Foundation here.

We understand that all medical records should now have been destroyed. On 31 January 1991, all records were sent to MSS Records Management Services, 22 Summit Road, Noble Park VIC 3174.

Medical records prior to 1977 were destroyed in 1991. The records for all adult patients discharged since 1 January 1983 were to be destroyed in January 1998. Minors' medical records since 1 January 1977 were to be stored for seven years after the patient’s 18th birthday and then destroyed (with the latest possible destruction year being 2015).
